This course is suitable for the Bronze, Silver and Gold D of E awards
This is a really practical, fun and interactive 4-hour session where learners learn the necessary first aid skills they will need to look after themselves and each other when completing their expedition in more remote locations.
The course includes:
Keeping self and others safe on expedition
Group Incident Management
Communication and team work in an emergency
Managing an unconscious casualty
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
CPR for drowning (canoe expeditions)
Dealing with choking
Treatment for bleeding and shock
Common Injuries on expedition; sprains, small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds, blisters, nosebleeds and small splinters
Bites and stings
Hypothermia and hyperthermia
This course is suitable for the Bronze, Silver and Gold D of E awards
All learners will receive a certificate of completion and a first aid expedition manual.
