Where possible, we take you all over the school grounds as we know that accidents don’t just happen in nice warm cosy classrooms. With this in mind, we practise using a range of equipment to look after the first aider, team and the casualty.

HSE First Aid Requirements for Schools 

 
As a workplace the HSE states that you have a duty of care as an employer and you are responsible for the safety and well-being of your staff. Generally, the ratio is 1 trained first aider to every 25 - 50 members of staff that must be available to deal with a first aid incident. You also need to ensure that there is cover in place should the first aider be absent from work. 

First Aid for D of E Expeditions 

 
This is a really practical, fun and interactive 4-hour session where learners learn the necessary first aid skills they will need to look after themselves and each other when completing their expedition in more remote locations. 

Forest Schools First Aid Course 

 
This course has been designed for Forest School Practitioners and covers a range of first aid skills required to deal with injury or illness in a Forest Schools environment. 
 
It is achieved by completing a 2-day (16 hour) course. Learners attending this course will also gain a Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid to meet their workplace requirements in EYFS or primary settings 

Level 3 Paediatric First Aid (RQF) 

 
The Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid introduces the techniques, skills and decisions that will be needed by childcare practitioners. The skills and knowledge will be taught in a realistic childcare context. 

Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) 

 
This one day (6 hour) course covers the essential knowledge and skills your school team requires to manage immediate and potentially life threatening incidents. 
 
This qualification is ideal for appointed persons and support staff in schools and anyone who may be immediately required to take action in a first aid incident. 

Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work 

 
As a workplace and employer, schools have to risk assess their first aid requirements to ensure appropriate provision is in place to look after employees in a first aid incident. This 3-day First Aid at Work qualification is one of the statutory qualifications for this purpose. 
 
Successful completion of this course will ensure your first aid team have the skills and knowledge to manage emergency incidents and treat illnesses and injuries in the workplace. 

Combined Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work and Paediatric First Aid (RQF) 

 
The Combined First Aid at Work and Paediatric First Aid course is designed for schools to minimise the number or training days required to complete both qualifications and is delivered over an extended 3-day period. 
 
This ensures your school is meeting its HSE workplace requirements as an employer as well as the standards set out by the EYFS and Ofsted if you are an early years or primary setting. 

Level 3 Outdoor First Aid Course (RQF) 

 
The Outdoor First Aid is a 2-day (16 hour) course that is specifically designed for those working or spending recreational time in the outdoor environment. It is suitable for school Duke of Edinburgh leaders, residential trip leaders and for staff and students on study field trips. 
 
The skills and knowledge learnt on this course are contextualised to an outdoor setting and there are lots of practical based scenarios to practise and apply your skills in an outdoor setting.
