ITC Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (6 and 12 Hours) (RQF)

The ITC Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (QCF) introduces the techniques, skills and decisions that will be needed by childcare practitioners. The skills and knowledge will be taught in a realistic childcare context.

Content – Unit 1: EPFA – Emergency Paediatric First Aid (H/506/0792)

  • Dealing with an unconscious casualty

  • CPR on infants and children

  • Safe airway position

  • Monitoring a casualty

  • Choking

  • Bleeding

  • Seizures

  • Anaphylaxis

  • Shock

  • First aid kit use

  • Completing accident reports

Course Duration & Assessment

The training and assessment typically consists of a 1-day (6+ hour) course. It can be divided into 2 x 3 hour sessions if this is more appropriate to you workplace. This course is assessed continuously by tutor observation of ‘real-life’ skills benchmarked to National Occupational Standards. Certificates are valid for 3 years
